Summer 2011
I have not been on the blog in a while because there has been too much to blog about and not enough time to do it! Finally, I have a second to sit down and at least re-cap what the summer has been like so far. My family left Maui the end of May and we have not been home since. Started out with the Gulf Coast Championships in Tampa, Florida, then back to LA where Dad and I met up with my brother Tanner and Mom. Dad got a new truck so we loaded up the Infinity boards and headed to Vail, Colorado for the Teva Mountain Games. Then we moved east across country to Oklahoma and finally down to Pensacola Beach, Florida. After seeing friends and doing some SUP clinics, we drove to Miami looking at colleges for Tanner along the way and ended up in Miami to catch a flight to the British Virgin Islands where we did the HI HO race. But the morning we were supposed to leave I woke up at 4 in the morning barfing and by 8 there was no way I was getting on that plane. So Tanner and Dad went and Mom stayed with me at the airport hotel hanging out. Luckily it was only a 24 hour bug and I was good to go the next morning. Being sick away from home sucks! The Hi HO was a blast and there have been lots of pics posted on FB about it. In a nutshell you stay on really nice catamarans, race every morning, eat great food, hang out with fun people and see some amazing islands! I would recommend it to anyone who loves to SUP and explore tropical paradises. Then we flew back to Miami and Tan and I flew back to Pensacola to be there in time for the fourth of July with friends and Mom and Dad drove the car back. After the fourth Mom, Tan and I flew back to LA for the Hennessey US Championship race in Redondo Beach and Dad and our good friend from Florida, Dan, drove the truck back across country. From LA we headed north up highway one and ended up in Oregon at my cousins wedding, then down to Lake Shasta in Northern California for a not planned but super fun four day houseboat trip with my Dad’s best friend from high school and his wife. That was a blast, I tried waterskiing for the first time and we SUPed behind the boat in the wake. Another houseboat trip is in the future for sure. From Shasta we headed north to Idaho and now we are visiting family and friends in Sun Valley. So that is it so far, a major Trout family road trip! Next stop…Park City and Salt Lake for the H20 Overdrive SUP Cup and Outdoor Trade show then finally HOME!!! I can’t wait to get home to Maui, see our dog, see friends, train, surf and just hang out at the house. Aloha, ST
