Another Battle over and done

Battle of the Paddle - Slater Trout

Battle of the Paddle 2012 is over and it was a fun one.  The beach was packed, lots of great paddlers showed up and the sun and waves cooperated all weekend.  I felt good all weekend and was lucky enough take 5th in the elite race and 3rd in the distance race. Congratulations to Danny Ching and Anabelle Anderson who were champions in both races.  The SUP Magazine SUP awards were held Thursday night before the battle and it was another really fun night.  Everyone was there and it was exciting to see H2Indo take home Best Movie. Connor, Kai, Me, Dave Kalama and Dave Boehne took home favorite paddler awards and there were lots of great moments throughout the evening including Jerry Lopez taking home the lifetime achievement award.  He gave a great acceptance speech. Congrats to all the winners.  It gets tougher every year to do well at the battle as paddlers really pick up their training and more people get to a higher level of competition.  That just means more time on the water for me.  But once the battle is over and I step off the plane back on Maui it’s awesome.  Now I can look forward to winter waves and finishing my senior year of high school.  Not too long after arriving home we got a nice north swell!   All the races, events and surf trips that I get to do are all possible because I have the best sponsors any one could ask for… Boardworks, Infinity, Maui Jim, Camelbak, X-1, FCS, OAM and High Tech surf shop on Maui.  Huge thanks to them for all they do, I appreciate everything!  Looking forward to winter and even some snowboarding over christmas.  Aloha, ST
